The client are two men who are working at a major bank in the IT space, both have families and are doing well in their professions. As they continued to feel blesses, they both realized they wanted to give back to the society and realized that although there were good charities to donate to, they were lagging behind in the use of technology to raise money.
Although the client came to us with predefined scopes of the app they wanted to develop, we had meetings every fortnight to iron out the kinks and produce a product that was beyond what they first envisioned it to be.
There are no apps for charity where you can subscribe to and keep up to date with all ones you like in one place. We as a company believe that we should give back to the community whenever we can, so we knew we had to be a part of this project, and jumped right in.
After agreeing to be featured on the application, the charities can receive direct donations from the application and whenever they update news on their selected URL, the app automatically pulls it off their server and displays it on the news feed.
Most times, when people donate to a charity, they don’t keep going back to read about the work their charities are doing. People then feel like it is just the number on their bank account that keeps decreasing and become detached from the charity. However, with the help of this application, users can keep up to date with everything the charity is doing.
Donations don’t have to mean a regular amount of money that has to be contributed weekly or monthly on this app. Users can choose to donate a certain amount, but they can also donate recognizable quantities like 2 coffees, 1 meal etc, which makes it more personalized and makes people want to go back and give as much as they can.
Knowing what a charity does on a regular basis helps users have confidence that the money they pour into it really is making a difference in the world. The app makes it easy to have all their favorite charity appear on the newsfeed. They can customize the newsfeed to display content from only the charities you wish to keep in touch with.
Users are able to see how their donations stack up against other people across the world who are donating to the charity. There are three leaderboards, one with everyone in the world, the other with everyone in the user’s locale, and the other is just amongst their friends. This ignites people’s competitive spirit and those in need will benefit from it.
When the users donate to a number of charities under the same category, they earn achievements and titles which reflect the category they donated to. Once unlocked the title can be seen besides the name as well. For example, “Username: Nature-lover”. If users have more than two achievements, they can choose which one they want to display besides their name.
